Proposed changes to the Bylaws of the Pacific Palisades Community Council (PPCC) sparked intense debate at the PPCC meeting on Thursday, Sept. 24. Proposed changes regarding the selection and election of Organizational Representatives and Alternates were presented at the most recent meeting with voices in favor and opposed to the changes well represented.
President Chris Spitz called for the discussion of this complex issue to continue at the next PPCC meeting.
In other business, a motion was passed in response to Los Angeles City Councilmember Mike Bonin’s motion regarding Short Term Vacation Rentals (STVR). Bonin’s motion favors allowing STVR in some circumstances. Citing numerous concerns, the PPCC voted to recommend against the motion Bonin has put forward.
A possible FAA flight path over the Palisades en route to Long Beach Airport was also discussed. Congressman Ted Lieu’s office has written to the FAA requesting an extension of the comment period for this plan so details can be released to the community.
Nominations are now being accepted through Oct. 31 for the Citizen of the Year and Golden Sparkplug Awards. These awards highlight outstanding voluntary service and accomplishment in the community. For more details or to make a nomination, visit: pacpalicc.org.
The next PPCC meeting is scheduled for Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. In addition to the continued bylaws discussion, CUP/CUB application for the Village Shell station is on the agenda.
