
The Viking Patrol of Troop 223 recently completed a Good Turn Trip to Our Big Kitchen where the patrol prepared more than 650 meals in four hours to be distributed to people in need throughout Los Angeles. Viking Patrol is led by Patrol Leader Tucker Rowland and Assistant Patrol Leader Finn Fox, and includes Scouts Jackson Adams, Jake Bunn, Harrison Fair, Emmitt Haggenmiller and Bennett Toral.

The Summit HOA in the Highlands celebrated back to school with a “fun-filled carnival-themed party” on Sunday, September 10. Festivities included Hot Dog on a Stick, and DJ and games by Amplified Entertainment. A balloon twister and face painter were also on hand, and “the big hit” was a visit from Los Angeles Fire Department Station 23.
“It was a perfect night to celebrate the end of summer and come together in our wonderful community,” Kim Lang, HOA board member and event organizer, said. “Events like this bring everyone together.”

The Westside Chapter of The National Charity League hosted an All Chapter Kick-Off Meeting at St. Matthew’s Church on Sunday, September 10. This year’s theme for the chapter is “You Get What You Give.”
The kick-off meeting featured a philanthropy drive, where toiletries were collected and assembled into care packages for Meals on Wheels clients.
Palisadian Dr. Dolly Klock, a family physician, speaker and consultant, also gave a talk during the meeting on the subject of health and wellness.

Former Palisadian Marie Steckmest, who now resides in Northern California, recently launched the Novato Library Seed Library at her local library in Marin County. Residents are encouraged to take new seeds, donate seeds, and bring seedlings/plant cuttings to exchange. Steckmest shared that she would be happy to help anyone in the Palisades who is interested in creating a local seed library.

Will Rogers Ranch Foundation hosted Family Day at Will Rogers State Historic Park on Sunday, August 13. The event included a Will Rogers Polo Club match, ranch house tours, snacks, a scavenger hunt, horse demos, pony photos, a Will Roberts roping demo and more.
