The Palisades Recreation Center’s Major Division Co-Ed All-Star flag football team won the Citywide championship, defeating Pacific Region champion Green Meadows 14-8 in overtime in the finals December 16 at John Ferraro Soccer Complex in Griffith Park.
Coached by Andrew Grossman, Steve Howe and Luke Howe, the local squad won the West Region, then beat the Metro Region champion December 12 to earn a spot in the championship game.
The roster featured 10 boys: Max Goldsmith, Russell Reyna, Dylan Howe, Hudson Clark, Jack Gilligan, Connor Stacknick, Derek Grossman, Sebastian Marti, Jojo Rhodes and Max Paik-Schoenberg.
The final game ended in dramatic fashion when Grossman snuck behind the defense and caught the winning touchdown pass from Goldsmith on a fourth-down play from the opponents’ 15-yard line.
