Palisades Lutheran Preschool held a Trike-A-Thon on February 1. The students brought their tricycles, razor scooters and bikes and made laps around the courtyard for an hour.
The 31 children (18 in the preschool and 13 in the pre-kindergarten) raised $1,589 for St. Jude Hospital through pledges by parents, grandparents and friends.
“St. Jude Trike-A-Thon is a fun, week-long safety curriculum and fundraising program,” said Lutheran Preschool Director Dede El-Atrache. “The program is a great way to teach children valuable riding-toy safety lessons, which they learn from the educational programs provided by St. Jude: Bikewell Bear and Pedals.”
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis is internationally recognized for its pioneering research and treatment of children with cancer and catastrophic diseases and is ranked as one of the best pediatric cancer hospitals in the country. Consistent with the vision of its founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay.
