Here are a couple remaining agenda items that caught attention during the July 10 Pacific Palisades Community Council meeting:
- Taste of the Palisades, at 538 Palisades Dr., is applying for a full liquor license from the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. Manny Diaz, principal planner, told the PPCC the restaurant filed the conditional use permit on April 21. They plan to expand hours from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. With a beer and wine license since opening in 2004, Diaz said Taste has not received any violations or citations.
- Barry Kurtz, traffic engineer with the County Department of Beaches and Harbors, discussed the proposed expansion of the Marvin Braude Bike Trail (also known as the Ocean Front Walk) at the Temescal Canyon parking lot with a pedestrian-only path. It’s intended to run beyond Gladstone’s Restaurant, located at Sunset Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway. At this stage, Kurtz said the proposal remains at a standstill. The county attempted to get the project approved in 2009 and 2011 but probably never advanced because of the cost. The path from Santa Monica Pier to Will Rogers Station Beach at Temescal Canyon is deemed a “multi-use” path for bicyclists and pedestrians, but public safety concerns have grown as the path’s use increases every year. South of the pier and in Venice, the path is marked “bikes only,” he said. Kurtz said at the last Beaches and Harbors meeting, kicking around the application they continue sending the Metro, they discussed other grants and funding options for the estimated $2.67 million project.
