Vice President Joe Biden will be in LA, Monday, Oct. 6, to speak at a $2,500 per person fundraiser for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
The shindig billed as the “When Women Succeed America Succeeds Cocktail Reception” is taking place at the home of Jim Gianopulos, a chairman/CEO of Fox Filmed Entertainment at 20th Century Fox, and will feature a performance by Carole King.
Jim and Ann Gianopulos own a home in the 400 block S. Carmelina Avenue between Sunset and San Vicente boulevards near Paul Revere Charter Middle School.
Parents with children at Paul Revere should be ready to receive traffic alerts from the local school as previous White House visits to the neighborhood have prompted street closures and delays.
Gianopulos serves on the board of the Motion Picture & Television Fund. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is also expected to attend the lively event, which is a prelude to President Obama’s visit to the Southland.
Obama is scheduled to attend a fundraiser later this week hosted by Gwyneth Paltrow, who owns a large estate in Mandeville Canyon.
Purchased by Paltrow for nearly $11 million in 2012, the estate features sprawling lawns, oaks and horse stables and a paddock, according Zilllow.com.
The invitation posted on the website PoliticalPartyTime.org also includes DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, former Warner Bros. Entertainment Chairman Barry Meyer, film producer Peter Chernin, philanthropist Hope Warschaw and director/producer James L. Brooks as hosts of the event.
Biden’s two-day visit to California will include a Tuesday roundtable with Mayor Eric Garcetti on minimum wage.
The Vice President will then head to Bakersfield for an event with Sen. Alex Padilla, D-Pacoima, who is the Democratic candidate for secretary of state and Amanda Renteria, who is challenging Rep. David Valadao, for a Congressional seat.
