The Malibu Country Mart will host a summer block party on Sunday, August 11, starting at 2 p.m. and featuring an afternoon of live music, activities and an assortment of nostalgic treats. The free party will culminate with a screening of “The Goonies.”
Activities will include a Rony’s Photo Booth, tarot card readings by Cathy Crystal, caricature portraits and airbrush and henna tattoos. Youngsters can enjoy a petting zoo, balloon art and face painting.
Food vendors will offer complimentary carnival treats such as cotton candy, popcorn, funnel cakes, churros, snow cones, candy apples and ice cream. Music will be provided by Noirfancy and a live steel-drum trio.
The movie will be projected onto a giant outdoor screen starting at 8:15 p.m., or about 15 minutes after sundown, near the children’s playground on the lawn. Guests are encouraged to bring beach blankets and picnic baskets.
“We wanted to close the season with a family-oriented event that brings the whole community together,” said Michael Koss, general partner of the Malibu Country Mart. Visit: Facebook.com/MalibuCountryMart.
