Police arrested a homeless man who was in possession of a handgun at the bus stop on Sunset Blvd. at Castellammare Dr. at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12.
“The individual did not use or brandish the firearm; he was in possession of a firearm” LAPD Sgt. Karandy told the Palisadian-Post on the scene.
The arrest came after a verbal altercation between the unidentified suspect and at least one other homeless individual had occurred earlier that morning on the beach, Karandy said.
At least six police vehicles responded to the call at the bus stop near Vons where homeless individuals routinely congregate.
Police removed the weapon from the suspect during a pat-down, as witnessed by this reporter on the scene.
Two additional homeless men were temporarily detained while police conducted their investigation.
