Jake Steinfeld officially closed the books on his term as Honorary Mayor of Pacific Palisades last Friday, Jan. 29 with a talk at Seven Arrows Elementary School’s community gathering.
“It will be my last official task as Honorary Mayor of Pacific Palisades,” Steinfeld told the Post before the event, noting the event had to be booked a year in advance to secure the distinction.
The school’s weekly assembly, called a Kayum for the Chumash word meaning “assembly or time for gathering,” brings together students, parents, faculty and staff for a celebration featuring music, poetry and presentations from the students.
“I’ll do what I always do: Get everybody excited about the community, about pursuing dreams and about doing it in a very healthy, positive way,” Steinfeld said.
Steinfeld said it was the perfect event to mark the end of his tenure.
“Since I’ve officially stepped aside, you have to go out on a high note,” he said. “It’s time for the next Honorary Mayor to do this, but I’ve had so much fun and any time I get to talk to kids I’m always happy to do that.”
