In an effort to rebuild the shoreline along Pacific Coast Highway, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is closing one southbound lane of PCH south of Topanga Canyon Boulevard toward Santa Monica from March 21-25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Caltrans spokesman Patrick Chandler explained that recent big waves have washed away some of the dirt and rocks in the barrier. The lane closures will allow crews to restripe the lanes and place concrete barriers so that the repairs can be continued without further closures. Chandler told the Palisadian-Post the project should take about 30 days to complete but lane closures will only last until March 25.
