Qualifying for the CIF Southern Section playoffs was a huge accomplishment for the Palisades High boys and girls lacrosse programs.
Both teams were seeded last out of 16 teams in the Los Angeles bracket and unfortunately, neither had much time to enjoy the experience, as they were ousted in the first round by the No. 1 seeds Tuesday.
After a thrilling sudden-death overtime victory over El Segundo in a play-in game Monday, the boys traveled to Palos Verdes on Tuesday hoping to pull off a major upset, but they fell behind 14-2 by halftime and were dealt a 21-3 defeat. Eleven players scored for the Sea Kings.
Palisades now has its sights set on regaining the City Section title. It will be a heavy favorite when it hostsValley Academy of Arts & Sciences in the semifinals May 17. The winner advances to the final May 20 at Birmingham High.
The Pali High girls lost to Oak Park 17-1 in their Southern Section matchup and host Hamilton in the City semifinals. The winner plays for the title May 20 at Birmingham High.
