The Palisades High boys and girls track and field teams returned to El Camino College in Torrance last Thursday for the South Bay Invitational and this time they were at full strength. When the Dolphins had competed there five days earlier in the Mt. SAC Relays they were missing many of their best runners.
In the varsity girls 800 meters, Brittany Darrow took fourth in a personal-best 2:20.87, fellow sophomore Elizabth Rene was fifth in 2:21.44 and senior Nicole Figueroa was ninth in 2:26.08. Rene was also fourth in the 1,600 in 5:19.69, freshman Sarah Bentley (5:22.85) was seventh and Darrow was eighth in a personal-best 5:25.50. Bentley ran a personal-best 11:23.11 to take fourth in the 3,200 and senior Ejiro Agege clocked a season-best 13.14 in the 100.
In the varsity boys 400, 10th-grader Nickolas Mendes was ninth in a season-best 52.59, Ben Hansen was 10th in the 1,600 in a personal-best 4:34.45 and fellow 12th-grader Jakob Pollack was second in the 3,200 in a season-best 9:47.32.
