On Tuesday, August 13, Croft Wellwood passed away too soon at the age of 71 from a courageous battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frederic William Henry Wellwood, and his mother, Margaret Carolyn (Croft) Wellwood.
He is survived by his sister Wendy Lee (Wellwood) Sexton, brother Gary William Wellwood, son Cameron Croft Wellwood, granddaughter Koa Jade Wellwood and cousin Albert Bruce Dalman.
The family moved from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, to Pacific Palisades when he was 13 years old. He received his business degree from USC in 1970 and worked at Wellwood & Hallee and Malibu Systems, eventually becoming president, working in computer systems and designs his entire career.
He had many passions, but number one was his love of flying. He flew his Cessna P210 with any excuse: travel, a round of golf or maybe a game of poker.
Another passion was spending time in his boat fishing by Buccaneer Bay near Vancouver Island.
He was a talented artist making his own comic Christmas cards and gift tags, many of which became family treasures.
His many friends will miss his quick wit, intelligence and zest for life.
There will be a “Celebration of Life” from 4 to 6 p.m. at Penmar Golf Course, located at 1233 Rose Ave., Los Angeles, on October 12. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to bwsexton@hotmail.com. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
