Holiday Parking Lot Sale | The Village
Literary bargain hunters and holiday gift seekers are invited to gather for the Friends of Palisades Library Holiday Parking Lot Book Sale, taking place on Saturday, November 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Friends of the Library are offering the “best holiday gift bargains” for book lovers with a huge selection of gently used books. Whether you are searching for a cookbook filled with delicious recipes or a children’s book to read to your grandchild, there will be “an eclectic variety of non-fiction books as well as beautiful coffee table books, all in almost new condition,” according to a press release.
The proceeds will help the library “purchase books, research materials and other items the branch would not otherwise be able to offer.”
In case of rain, the sale will be rescheduled to Saturday, December 7.

Temescal Canyon Association Annual Meeting | Temescal Gateway Park
Community members are invited to join the Temescal Canyon Association Annual Meeting on Tuesday, December 3, at 7 p.m. in the historic Dining Hall at Temescal Gateway Park.
Topics covered at the meeting will include “From Devastation to Restoration, The Woolsey Fire,” with Outdoor Recreation Planner of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area Melanie Beck, and Suzanne Goode, who will share on “Lessons Learned and Visions of the Future.”

LAPD Toy Drive | Pacific Palisades
The Los Angeles Police Department is launching a holiday toy drive to further serve its community—and make a child’s holiday season a lot brighter. The toy drive will run from December 1 to 21.
For those interested, donations can be made at the front lobby of the West Los Angeles Community Police Station, located at 1663 Butler Ave. Unwrapped toys for kids ages 8 to 12 will be accepted.

Woolsey Recovery | Santa Monica Mountains
A second-phase of recovery efforts has begun one year after the devastating Woolsey fire damaged miles of federal park land in the Santa Monica Mountains.
Testing for hazardous materials and debris removal is expected to be complete by June 2020. 103 miles of the 112 that were affected have reopened, including trails, roads and park sites. Two more park units, Peter Strauss Ranch and Rocky Oaks, are expected to open this year before Thanksgiving.
