Capri Fire Knocked Down | Rustic Canyon
On Saturday evening, September 19, around 9:30 p.m., Los Angeles Fire Department knocked down a brush fire, referred to as the Capri fire, which burned in the Santa Monica Mountains between Brentwood and Pacific Palisades. The fire was first reported at 6:38 p.m.
“A well-coordinated air and ground assault in rugged and remote terrain by 81 LAFD personnel—including four LAFD helicopters—and one LACoFD helicopter and three hand crews in Automatic Aid have fully contained and extinguished a stubborn fire that ultimately consumed a little more than one-half acre of medium to heavy brush near the Sullivan Fire Road in Rustic Canyon in the vicinity of Murphy Ranch,” LAFD reported on Twitter.
Several hikers that were stranded by the blaze were brought to safety by LAFD ground crews.
“There were no injuries, no structure threat or damage, and no need for evacuation,” the report continued.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
