Matt Damon recently sold his seven-bedroom, 10-bathroom home in Pacific Palisades for $18 million. Designed by Grant Kirkpatrick, this 13,508-square-foot Upper Riviera estate was originally listed for $21 million.
“Situated on an ultra-private homesite on one of Pacific Palisades’ premier streets, this extraordinary contemporary retreat showcases masterful craftsmanship and exceptional amenities for entertaining and relaxation,” the listing boasted. “Surrounded by lush landscaping, mature trees and flat, grassy yards, the .68-acre estate is among the most spacious homesites in the … neighborhood.”
Built in the mid-2000s, Damon will be parting with this three-story contemporary house after nearly a decade of living there with his family. While he purchased the estate in 2012 for $15 million, his Palisades listing agent Eric Haskell with The Agency told The Journal the home has not undergone any major renovations beyond a few cosmetic lifts.
The home boasts an open-plan living room with large windows and Asahi glass walls that pour light into the house, with a center dining room lined with clerestory.
With custom mahogany cabinetry, bluestone countertops, and stainless-steel Viking, Wolf and Miele appliances, the chef’s kitchen is detailed with specialized designs.
Outside, there is a large-scale backyard with a Hawaiian-inspired patio, a flowing waterfall, koi pond, a sizable pool, spa and an alfresco dining terrace.
Standout features of the home include spectacular views and 35-foot mahogany ceilings. Additional features include a game room, screening room, massage room, wine cellar, bar, office and gym.
The main suite has its own private terrace, a massage room and spa-like bathtub.
Damon’s home was sold in an off-market deal by KKR Private Equity’s managing director Richard Sarnoff and television executive and Warner Brothers CEO Ann Sarnoff.
Academy Award winner and star of films like “The Departed,” “The Talented Mr. Ripley” and “Good Will Hunting,” Damon relocated in 2018 with his wife Luciana Barroso to a penthouse in Brooklyn, New York, where they will now permanently reside.
The couple purchased their New York home for $16.8 million, the priciest residential deal ever recorded in that borough, according to the New York Post.
