The Palisades High boys baketball team was eager to return to the court this week and put an end to its three-game losing skid. Instead, the Dolphins will have to wait a little longer to get back in the win column.
While actively monitoring cases due to to Omicron variant of COVID-19 and upgrading health and safety protocols to remain in compliance with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, the Los Angeles Unified School District decided to postpone and reschedule all athletic competitions for the week of January 10-14.
The Dolphins (3-5), who have not played since a 78-74 tournament loss to Alemany on Dec. 27, were scheduled to play at Western League rivals University and Venice this week, but will have to reschedule. A Jan. 6 game at Fairfax was also postponed.
Palisades has started 0-2 in league play, having lost home contests to Hamilton and Westchester. The Dolphins are hoping to be able to play Cerritos Valley Christian in the MLK Showcase on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Pali High girls team was scheduled to play five games this week—league matchups with University and Venice and nonleague games against Brentwood, Rolling Hills Prep and Valencia. The Dolphins (5-6) last tipped off Dec. 22, suffering a 64-40 tournament defeat to Chaminade. The girls have won three straight City championships.
