With commitment to protecting Los Angeles’ beaches in mind, etco Homes—developer of One Coast properties in Pacific Palisades—organized a beach cleanup on Sunday, June 26, with ocean conservation organization Surfrider.
Vice President of Marketing and Design at etco Homes Joy Maine described the cleanup as a “successful day for all” after attracting 40 volunteers and collecting 199 pounds of trash.
“We were thrilled to see that not only a handful of our etco team members had made the effort to come and get involved, but some of our respected brokers, colleagues, family and friends came out as well,” Maine said to the Palisadian-Post.
Although this is etco Homes’ most recent beach cleanup, the company has maintained a nearly year-long partnership with Surfrider after its first beach cleanup with the organization in September 2021, collecting 1,522 pounds of trash.
The company explained the different ways it is environmentally conscious, including using sustainable products, such as natural stones made with reclaimed materials, energy-efficient plumbing fixtures and rainwater-capturing planters to replenish groundwater resources—influencing etco Homes to step into the world of ocean conservation.
“Etco Homes has always been conscientious about the products and finishes that we put into our homes,” Maine explained. “We pride ourselves on offering environmentally friendly and sustainable products whenever we can.”
Etco Homes acknowledged their admiration of Surfrider’s mission to “protect and preserve the world’s oceans and beaches.” Surfrider and etco Homes are united over their common goal to keep oceans clean and safe, making Surfrider a compatible partner—taking on ocean conservation in full force.
The nonprofit organization boasts over one million volunteers who are determined to protect oceans and coasts. Similar to these volunteers, etco Homes doesn’t see themselves backing down anytime soon and are calling on the Palisades community to get involved.
“We are already planning future cleanups with the Surfrider Foundation and encourage the Pacific Palisades community to join in the communal effort to protect and preserve our beautiful beaches,” Maine said.
Etco Homes shared hopes of leaving its mark on the Palisades community—not only through the creation of One Coast Properties, but through doing its part and using resources to keep oceans out of harm’s way.
“From the years of planning and development of One Coast, to now welcoming our homeowners, it feels really good to be in the Palisades, getting involved, and we hope that we can make a difference,” Maine said to the Post. “With 60% of our homes at One Coast already sold, we are grateful to be a growing part of this one-of-a-kind coastal community that feels like a true neighborhood.”
