Palisades-Malibu YMCA and Malibu Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce will host a Community Health and Wellness Day on Saturday, August 26, at Simon Meadow.
“Together we have created a unique opportunity for businesses and organizations to engage with the community and showcase their company on this special day,” according to an announcement. “Whether you’re a health-focused enterprise, a wellness enthusiast or simply a supporter of community well-being, this event offers something for everyone.”
Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce last hosted a Community Business and Wellness Fair in May 2019, featuring 31 booths and tables operated by local businesses.
This year’s free event will feature face painting and art by Julie Orr, YMCA games with a chance of winning prizes, a show from students of Gerry Blanck’s Martial Arts Center, activity booths, and demonstrations.
A number of food vendors will also be present, offering “healthy and delicious” bites from Peas & Pickle Mediterranean, Juicy Ladies Organic Cafe, Sure Good Soft Serve, coffee and baked goods from Caffe Luxxe, and more.
“The Community Health and Wellness Fair is a shining example of a partnership—the Chamber of Commerce and the YMCA—for the betterment of the community,” Palisades-Malibu YMCA Executive Director Jim Kirtley said to the Palisadian-Post ahead of the event. “The goal of the partnership is to have a positive impact on families, adults and supporting local businesses as [much as] possible. Thank you to the Chambers for all of the work, effort and time it takes to put on a … wonderful event.”
The event’s presenting sponsor is International Protective Service, with Just Food For Dogs, Groza Learning Center, Ciela, Seven Arrows Elementary School, The Palisades Dentists, Skin Five and Mathnasium as Gold Sponsors.
“Just like IPS Global—our presenting sponsor—these … sponsors have played an important role in bringing and reviving [Health and Wellness Day] to the Palisades community after years of dormancy,” read a post on Instagram. “We can’t wait to see you.”
Community Health and Wellness Day is free for community members, beginning at 11 a.m. and running through 2 p.m. It will take place at Simon Meadow, located at 15551 Sunset Boulevard.
Parking will be available for free on Temescal Canyon Road and for a fee in the State Park lots.
“The Malibu Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce accelerates business by cultivating a thriving business community with kindness and passion that inspires waves of success,” according to its website.
