Former 7th Heaven star Stephen Collins released a statement to PEOPLE magazine in which he confesses to inappropriate sexual conduct with three female minors.
This confession follows the recent release of a recording in which he can be heard describing the events of sexual abuse. Collins claims his soon-to-be ex-wife recorded a marriage therapy session with neither his nor the therapist’s knowledge.

According to PEOPLE magazine, the incidents occurred over a 20-year timespan from 1973 to 1994. Collins has apologized to one of the victims but for fear of making things worse by “opening old wounds,” he has not contacted the other two victims, PEOPLE reported.
While Collins attended services at St. Matthew’s Parish for a period of time, Rev. Dr. George H. Martin, interim rector at St. Matthew’s Parish stated in an email to the Palisadian-Post that Collins “never held office in our Parish administration and was not employed by our Parish in any capacity.”
