By BETTY-JO TILLEY Special to the Palisadian-Post Amy Michele Pittenger, 33, died unexpectedly on Sunday, September 30, while visiting her mother, Nancy Pittenger Lynch. A former Pacific Palisades resident like her mother, Amy kept close ties to the community through Nancy, who is widely known for her 28 years of title insurance service to the real estate industry in the Palisades and throughout the Westside.’ Amy is also survived by her daughter, Sara Faith Legette, 12, who attended Palisades Charter Elementary for kindergarten and first grade and then Coeur D’Alene in Venice for second through fourth grade. Treasured for her compassion and kindness to strangers, friends and family alike, Amy had an uncanny understanding of others’ problems and brought solace and comfort to many. As her maternal aunt Carol Brown reminisced, ‘She always had the right thing to say to a friend, or really to anyone in need.” Born on June 10, 1979 in Tarzana to parents Richard M. Pittenger and Nancy, Amy was the adored little sister to brothers Christopher and Jeffrey. She played softball during middle school, until discovering the Academy of Dance in Agoura Hills, where she studied ballet and jazz throughout high school. Amy’s winning smile and quintessential charm led her to the hospitality industry, where she first worked in restaurant service and sales in Boulder, Colorado, and Jackson Hole, Wyoming.’ Her longtime love of the arts and her many creative talents then directed her to a second career in the entertainment industry, where she was initially employed as a personal assistant and eventually a stylist on a variety of major television commercials.’ She lived in the Palisades from 2005 to 2007, became a member of the Motion Picture Costume Union and worked at Fox Sports for two years, styling wardrobes of newscasters and sports celebrities for sports commentary programming. She most recently worked as a concierge at Gjelina, a trendy restaurant on Abbot Kinney.’ Amy was predeceased by her grandparents, Dick and Phyllis Pittenger and Eunice and Forrest Barnes, and her beloved stepfather, Charles Edward Lynch, who first came into her life when she was five years old.’ Years later, with Sara in kindergarten at Palisades Elementary, the retired ‘Lynch’ came to be known as ‘Papa’ on the school yard, where students, parents and faculty delighted in his volunteer presence. In addition to her daughter and mother, Amy is survived by her father, Richard Pittenger of Simi Valley; her brothers Chris and Jeff of Placerville and Agoura, respectively; stepbrother Doug Lynch and stepsister Cari Lynch.
