SYDNEY BROUWER
A freshman on the Long Beach City College swim team, Sydney made a big splash in the Vikings’ third South Coast Conference meet against Pasadena and Rio Hondo. First, she swam the breaststroke leg on her school’s winning 200-yard medley relay. Then, after taking first place in the shortest event, the 50-yard freestyle, she won the longest event, the 500-yard freestyle. Showing her proficiency in every stroke, she capped off the day with another first place effort in the 200-yard individual medley. In the fall, she recorded 17 goals and 17 assists on the water polo team. Sydney also won City Section titles in both sports at Palisades High.
