A starting guard for Team Gage, Chelsey scored 11 points and played lockdown defense to help her basketball squad rally from a 20-point deficit in the fourth quarter before falling to defending champion Redemption on a three-pointer at the buzzer in the Women’s Drew League championship game Sunday at King Drew High in Los Angeles. Chelsey won back-to-back City Section Open Division crowns, was a two-time City Player of the Year and earned the Post Cup Award at Palisades High before attending Loyola Marymount, where she was second on the team in points (11.5), assists (2.5) and minutes (29.3) per game and ranked No. 2 in the West Coast Conference in three-point percentage as a senior in 2020-21.
