At 89, Palisadian composer Burt Bacharach is on the road again: He has just announced two nights this July at the Royal Festival Hall in London, one of the most prestigious musical venues in Europe.
In the past his music was underestimated as “easy listening” when in fact his jazzy progressions ensured that songs such as “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head,” “Walk on By,” “The Look of Love,” “I Say A Little Prayer” and “Anyone Who Had a Heart” outlived the genre.
His songs have been performed by Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, Dusty Springfield, Stan Getz, Elvis Costello and Adele—more than 1,000 covers in all.
These images are some “Bacharach moments” since he first topped the charts with “The Story of My Live” performed by Martin Robbins in 1957.
