Chase Utley to Throw First Pitch at PPBA Opening Ceremonies
By STEVE GALLUZZO | Sports Editor
Another exciting season gets underway Saturday morning when the Pacific Palisades Baseball Association holds its Pancake Breakfast and opening day ceremonies at the Palisades Recreation Center’s Field of Dreams.
Chairwoman Robyn Casady is hopeful the rain will stay away long enough for Barrett Eastman, an 8th-grader at Corpus Christi, to sing the national anthem and for former MLB second baseman Chase Utley (who ended his 16-year career in Dodger Blue) to toss the ceremonial first pitch.
The Pancake Breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m. and flapjacks, sausages and O.J. will be served until 10. Proceeds go towards field maintenance. Birch Benders is donating Pancake Mix and Raquel Tavares is donating Ghee from her company 4th and Heart. Starbuck’s is donating coffee and drinks are courtesy of The Golden Bull.
