William ‘Bill’ Laurence Reineman, devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, died on June 15 at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica. The longtime resident of Pacific Palisades was 80 years old. Born on January 11, 1931 in Rochester, New York, Bill attended Allendale School and received his B.A. from Babson College and his MBA from the University of Michigan. After graduating from Michigan, Bill proudly served as a medic in the U.S. Army for several years before returning to work as a vice president for the family-owned business, the Rochester Envelope Company. He excelled in sales while also obtaining nearly a dozen patents on envelope design and envelope manufacturing machinery. In 1962, Bill married Loriot De La Cour of Rochester. They had two children, Holly and Derek. Bill was instrumental in facilitating the sale of the family business to Boise-Cascade in 1971. The sale took Bill and his family to Hinsdale, Illinois for several years and thereafter to Los Angeles, where he served in senior management at Technicolor Films. After working at Technicolor, Bill maintained the good fortune of spending most of his time with his family and pursuing independent investment ventures while also serving for 40 years as the CEO of the family holding company, Reinco. Bill was a classic gentleman whose handshake was his contract and whose promises were never broken. People liked Bill. He was truly a good man, a natural and quiet leader, a loyal friend and a great listener. His lifelong friends enjoyed his playful and gentle sense of humor. He lived simply and was forever practical. Bill enjoyed living in Pacific Palisades and took great pride in giving back to his community. He served on the Palisades-Malibu YMCA board and led the annual Christmas Tree Sale for many years. He also enjoyed his time with the Palisades Rotary Club and served as a past president of the chapter. Bill most enjoyed sharing time with his family, watching his grandchildren play sports and connecting with friends. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lori; daughter Holly of Wilsonville, Oregon; son Derek (wife Tanya) of West Hollywood; granddaughter Aidan and grandson Jack; sister Sally Green (husband Ned) of Rochester; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held on June 21 at the Palisades Lutheran Church, followed by a reception at Bill’s home overlooking Temescal Gateway Park. Cremation was conducted by Armstrong Family Molloy-Mitten in Los Angeles. The Reineman Family wishes to thank all of our dear friends who have reached out to give us support and comfort. We have all been blessed knowing Bill and we hope his spirit will continue on in the hearts of the lives he touched.
