May is Melanoma Awareness Month, and Bloomingdale’s and Clarins have implemented a Here Comes the Sun program to support skin cancer research at the John Wayne Cancer Institute (JWCI) at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica.
St. John’s Dr. Delphine Lee will be at Bloomingdale’s Santa Monica at 1 p.m. on May 18 to offer preventive skin cancer tips and what to look for in detecting potential cancers, including the ABCDE rule: Asymmetry, Border, Color, Diameter and Evolution of spots or lesions on the body.
“Melanoma is the most common and deadly form of skin cancer in the United States,” said Lee, dermatologist and immunologist director at the Dirks/Dougherty Laboratory for Cancer Research at JWCI. “With the number of people diagnosed with melanoma on the rise, we need to educate people on how to minimize their risk of skin cancer.”
Throughout the month of May, all Southern California Bloomingdale’s will donate 5 percent of sales to the JWCI from the following Clarins products: Extra Firming Day Wrinkle Lifting Cream; Extra Firming Night Rejuvenating Cream; Beauty Flash Balm; UV Plus HP SPF 40 Day Screen; and UV Plus HP SPF 40 Day Screen Tint-light, medium, dark.
