Palisades Bocce Club President Jimmy Dunne wrote this report about last week’s playoff action at Veterans Gardens:
SENIOR LEAGUE
Four teams remained standing after exciting matches featuring the Top 12 teams of Summer 2022.
The semifinals Tuesday pitted The Spring Chickens against spring winner High Rollers while Friends & Neighbors took on Martinis, with the winners advancing to the finals next Tuesday, August 23.
SUNSET LEAGUE
A playoff bracket that began with 12 teams got whittled down to six: Chai Rollers, Acalpulco, Pali Pado Paisanos, Pali Dad Bod, Pali Pallinos and Pompeii.
Tuesday’s second round was round robin format with each team playing the other five in 4-frame matches, with the two best teams advancing to the finals.
Both Sunset and Senior League finals will start at 6 p.m. next Tuesday, at which time the courts will be lined with chairs for all fans from all teams. A “Pie and Burger” truck will be serving dinner (burgers, fries, pie, iced tea and water). Cost is $48 per person. After the matches will be an awards party at which league awards will be given. Who will win the Martini? Who will be the MVPs and Most Improved? Who will win the Palisadian?
