Palisades Bocce Club President Jimmy Dunne wrote the following report on last week’s action at Veterans Gardens:
SENIOR LEAGUE
The playoff round robin was one of the best days ever—full of happy and positive people.
“The Mob” beat up everyone in sight on the way to winning a whopping 15 points on the day. Ira the Terrible was insanely good, other than a complete, utter choke on a “Bay” in the team’s fourth match.
Nancy Gillette was “Player of the Day” with a dramatic 3-Point Bay on the last shot to get” Bocce Aces” into the playoffs. If she scored the Bay, they were in. If she blew it, they would miss the playoffs. She grabbed the ball, looked down the court, and let her fly. Bullseye!
“High Rollers” were on fire with a 4 points to 0 victory against the top-seeded “Martinis.”
“Friends & Neighbors” and “The Vinos” tied for fourth and will have a one-game playoff at 10:30 a.m. next Tuesday. The winner of the game to 6 moves to the semifinals.
“The Martinis” may have had a martini party before the match as it simply was not their day. More importantly, however, they were gracious to their opponents, providing another example of the wonderful spirit of the Palisades Bocce Club.

Teresa Closson popped a 3-Point Bay on “I Liff Bocce,” along with the talents of Sue Kohl, Raymond and Robin Meyers in a 10-1 trouncing of “La Bocce Vita.”
Laure Weber stared down the court at a sure point for “Bocce Ballers” but she busted it up, the dust settled and Laure’s “Ball Busters”
