Former Palisades High pitcher Lucas Braun earned All-Big West Second Team honors in his first season at Cal State Northridge. He started the year as a relief pitcher for the Matadors but ended it as one of the top starters in the conference, finishing fourth in the Big West in earned run average (2.91) with seven wins and 77 strikeouts in 74.1 innings. He appeared in 20 games on the mound, making 10 starts, and after being inserted into the rotation in late March he posted a 1.40 ERA with a 7-1 record and held opposing hitters to a .226 batting average.
The University of San Diego transfer was team captain his senior year at Pali High when he pitched the Dolphins to the City Open Division championship game at Dodger Stadium. He was named City Co-Pitcher of the Year in 2019 was a two-time Western League First Team honoree.
