UPDATE: The shotgun was found on Will Rogers State Beach.
Authorities confirmed to the Palisadian-Post that a shotgun found on Will Rogers State Beach is being investigated as a possible match for the murder weapon used in the Hollywood shooting that killed a 30-year-old woman on Sunday, July 5.
Ezeoma Obioha, 31, was arrested and is charged with capital murder in the slaying of Carrie Jean Melvin. Obioha pleaded not guilty and has been ordered to remain in jail without bail until his next court hearing on Aug. 31.
Obioha is accused of murdering Melvin execution-style as she walked down Sunset Boulevard with her boyfriend in Hollywood on July 5.
Authorities believe the attack may have been fueled by a financial dispute in which a check written to Melvin by Obioha bounced and she threatened to take him to court.
Obioha headed his own private security firm and at one point worked for a private security company in Pacific Palisades, according to an LA Times article.
ACS, Gates Security/Palisades Patrol and SSA all confirmed that Obioha has never been an employee of their firms.
ADT has not yet responded to the Post’s requests for employee verification.
