Chamber Music Palisades is set to kick off its 26th season with a performance at 8 p.m. by Quadre on September 21.
“We will welcome Quadre, a four-horn ensemble featuring French horn players from the most distinguished orchestras across the country,” according to a statement from the chamber.
Quadre – The Voice of Four Horns has more than two decades of experience performing in over 1,000 concerts throughout the United States. The group is comprised of Amy Jo Rhine, Lydia Van Dreel, Adam Unsworth and Daniel Wood.
“We are so excited to return to Los Angeles, where 24 years ago, Quadre was founded,” the group shared in a statement. “We are thrilled to bring our music back to where our journey began.”
The program for the evening includes “perennial favorites from Quadre’s four albums,” as well as “exciting new performances of contemporary classical music,” including “The Impetuous Winds” by Jamie Keesecker, “Cuadro Cuadrangulos” by David Garner, “Mirrow Images” by Adrienne Albert and “Fire in the Hole” by Mark Adam Watkins.
CMP Artistic Director Susan Greenberg will join Quadre on flute and piccolo for “L’oiseau des Bois, op 21” and “The Elephant and the Fly.”
“Acclaimed for its breathtaking horn mastery, Quadre captivates audiences with musical moments of ‘inspiration, sorrow, love and virtuosic display,’” according to CMP. “The richly distinctive sound of four horns playing in unison is an experience not to be missed.”
In conjunction with the start of the season, Chamber Music Palisades requested donations, inviting members of the community to become partial or complete sponsors of one of its concerts—with full recognition in the program.
“Exciting programming, outstanding musicians, world premieres, outreach programs for Los Angeles local schools and scholarships for talented young musicians: your support makes this all possible,” CMP shared in the statement.
CMP was founded in 1997 by four residents of the Palisades, according to its website. The nonprofit “produces professional chamber music concerts, commissions new works, and provides education opportunities for young people by performing free concerts in local schools and venues for community families.”
Tickets for the September 21 concert are $35 or free for students with current ID. A season ticket package is available for $120. Tickets will be sold at the door or available for purchase ahead of time at cmpalisades.org.
The four-concert season also includes January 18, 2023, March 1, 2023, and April 19, 2023.
As the Post went to print, CMP asked audience members to wear a mask and show proof of vaccination at the door.
The concert will take place at St. Matthew’s Parish, located at 1031 Bienveneda Avenue.
