The city can only do so much, so local self-help organizations such as P.R.I.D.E., PaliWorks and Palisades Beautiful will step in to beautify the streets. So do some individuals such as, left, the normally besuited Michael Gazzano of Caruso working with P.R.I.D.E. people to collect more than 30 bags of debris and plant new groundcover in The Village. And, right, Cedric and Sebastian Leiter, with their neighbor Zane Wolsefer, and their dad John Leiter, who removed and recycled hundreds of discarded paint cans from a water drainage tunnel in Santa Ynez Canyon Park.
