Corpus Christi Catholic Church celebrated 60 years of ministry, service and education on Sunday morning with a 90-minute Mass of Thanksgiving, followed by hospitality and live rock ‘n’ music out on the patio. Corpus Christi was established in Pacific Palisades in 1950 by Cardinal Archbishop James McIntyre. The church’s first Mass was celebrated by the founding pastor, Monsignor Richard F. Cotter, in the New Horizons Theater (now the YMCA building on Via de la Paz). Monsignor Liam Kidney, the church’s current pastor, presided over Sunday’s Mass, with liturgy sung by cantor Athena Greco (a 1996 graduate of Corpus Christi School) and the 22-member children’s choir, with soloists Danika Masi and Nicole Cigliano. Greco was joined at one point by second grader Coco Kennedy. Corpus Christi School, founded in 1951, was originally staffed by the Sisters of Saint Louis. Catherine Carvalho is today’s school principal.
