After a promising start to the season the Palisades High boys soccer team endured its first bumps in the road last weekend, dropping a pair of nonleague contests to Animo Leadership of Inglewood and Chavez.
“The second half was some of the best soccer you’ve played,” Coach Marvin Lemus told his players after Monday’s 2-1 loss at Chavez. “That’s the way you have to play all the time. If so, there’s no one we can’t beat.”
The Dolphins gave up two quick goals, but Seth Dula re-directed a cross into the goal in the 30th minute to get his team back in the contest. Palisades applied constant pressure over the final 40 minutes and misfired on several quality scoring chances, but could not net the equalizer.
The Dolphins surrendered a goal in each half in a 2-0 setback to Animo Leadership on Friday at Stadium by the Sea.
Going into yesterday’s game with archrival Venice, Palisades (2-2-2) had yet to allow a goal in Western League play.
