The inaugural Palisades Annual Blood Drive hosted by Amalfi Estates and its owner Anthony Marguleas was proof positive (and O-negative) that Pacific Palisades residents are generous, even when it comes to donating blood.
More than 20 Palisadians went veins-up to donate the red stuff to the American Red Cross at the Palisades Branch Library on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
Sarah Knauer, an assistant at Amalfi Estates who was on hand at the blood drive, said that by 2 p.m. Amalfi Estates had reached its goal of 19 donors.
“We hope to do weekend and spring blood drives during baseball season,” Knauer told the Palisadian-Post. “This is sort of a test run.”
Also giving their time at the blood drive were former Palisadians Sam Fleck, who is currently an NYU student and a Red Cross volunteer, and Ryan Tahmassebi, who is an intern at Amalfi Estates.
Donors were treated to free ice cream and tickets to the Laugh Factory.
