Pali High Players Earn All-Western League Spring Football Honors
The Spring 2021 All-Western League football team was announced last week and among the honorees were eight Palisades High players. Topping the list was senior Sebastian Conway-Burt, who was chosen Punter of the Year, averaging 42.6 yards per kick.
Making the First Team Offense were senior running back/receiver Brandon Forrest, who led the Dolphins in touchdowns (four) and junior offensive linemen Jonathan Pizante (a team-best 13 pancake blocks) and Corey Ehrlich (12).
Palisades also had four First Team Defense selections: junior defensive end Trinity Camden (a team-high three sacks), junior defensive lineman Josiah Christopher, (one fumble recovery), sophomore defensive back Amari Yolas (24 tackles, three interceptions and junior defensive back Johnny Babala (25 tackles, one interception).
After falling to Venice in their first game, the Dolphins reeled off three straight wins against Fairfax, Garfield and Westchester.
Forrest rushed for 113 yards and three touchdowns in 15 carries (averaging a team-best 7.5 yards per carry), caught five passes for 79 yards and one touchdown and added 73 yards on kick returns. He accounted for 24 of Palisades’ 53 points in four games.
Venice senior quarterback Sam Vaulton, a transfer from Tennessee, was named Player of the Year; Offensive Player of the Year honors were shared by Venice wideout Jaboree Thornton and Westchester running back Trevor Samuel.
Sharing Defensive Player of the Year accolades were linebackers Raejion Baker of Venice and Jayson Smith of Westchester. The Offensive Lineman of the Year is Westchester tackle Nathaniel Reyna and the Defensive Lineman of the Year is Venice end Thomas Kensinger. Kicker of the Year went to Westchester’s Ahmad Dunlap.
