Elsie Scarano passed peacefully from this world to the next on July 8, 2021. She lived on Anastasia Island in St. Augustine, Florida, having moved there several years ago from Pacific Palisades.
In May of this year, she celebrated her 81st birthday in the company of Joseph, her loving husband of 58 years, her children Joseph Scarano Jr. and Amanda Carter, her daughter-in-law Jennifer Scarano, and her much-loved and devoted sister Carol Lomaglio along with her husband Peter. Participating remotely in the celebration were her son-in-law Jeffery Carter and her grandsons Matthew Scarano, Andrew Scarano and Cord’e Fields.
Elsie was devoted to her family. She was an excellent cook who often regaled family and friends with her savory dishes. She enjoyed activities related to the St. Anastasia Catholic Church and playing bridge. She was a lover of art and architecture.
Before moving to St. Augustine, while living in Pacific Palisades, she spent many years as a volunteer at the internationally known J. Paul Getty Museum. She also traveled extensively with her husband to visit notable works of architecture throughout the U.S. and abroad.
She will be forever loved by those she loved, especially by her husband.
A funeral mass will be held at the St. Anastasia Catholic Church on Friday, July 23, at 11 a.m. followed by a reception at the Formation Center across from the church.
If you wish to honor Elsie’s memory, in lieu of flowers, please send a contribution to “Community Hospice and Palliative Care,” 1355 Dixie Highway, St. Augustine, FL 32084.
