Girl Scout Troop 1305 is collecting donations for Paws for Life K9 Rescue, offering Palisadians several ways to contribute.
“Do you have a fuzzy friend back at home, or are you a dog lover?” members of the troop wrote. “Well Pacific Palisades Girl Scout Troop 1305 is planning to take care of all those dogs without a home at Paws for Life shelter.”
For its community service hours requirement, members of the troop elected to work with dogs. To help Paws for Life, they will be assembling care kits, with leashes, collars, toys, and blankets and towels.
“Paws for Life is a shelter that takes in dogs who were found abandoned and uncared for,” according to the press release. “Shelter workers used to be incarcerated, and while the dogs are given a second chance in life, the workers are given a second chance as well.”
The troop is seeking donations of used or new blankets or towels, as well as financial contributions to help them buy kits. Donation boxes will be located at Palisades Charter Elementary and Corpus Christi schools through May 19.
Donations will also be accepted at a lemonade stand on Saturday, May 20, at Palisades Recreation Center or Sunday, May 21, near the Village Starbucks from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those who donate will receive a free lemonade.
“We need to work together as a community to help those in need and create a better world,” members of the troop wrote.
