Nine-year-old Grace Cohen, who will be a fifth-grader at Marquez Elementary in the fall, has competed in and won three recent figure skating competitions’the South Bay Open, the Southern California Open and last weekend the Interclub Open in Paramount. Cohen now competes at the pre-juvenile level, where she has five double jumps, including a double Lutz and two doubles in combination. She is coached by Heather McLaughlin and Sondra Holmes and trains at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo. * * * * * * Vaulter Rolls ‘Lucky 11′ in Las Vegas Palisades High sophomore pole vaulter Jamie Greenberg cleared 11 feet, one quarter inch to win the intermediate girls event last Sunday at the Western Region Junior Track & Field Championships in Las Vegas. She also qualified for the National Junior Olympics later this month in Sacramento. Greenberg won the City pole vault in May with a personal-high 10′ 6″ and qualified automatically for the state meet in Clovis, where she cleared 11’ 3″ on her third attempt, tying for 11th place in Division I and placing third among underclassmen.
