While the most recent tenant to open at Palisades Village is “luxury Parisian clothing line” Isabel Marant—several other stores are expected to open in the near future.
“Parisian fashion house Isabel Marant creates pieces to live in, from walking down the street to zipping off on a scooter,” according to the Palisades Village website. “A delightful mix of creativity and pleasure, the eponymous designer’s collections are an ode to the sublime chaos of life. Get ready to explore the label’s luxury clothing, shoes and accessories, and celebrate fashion in your every day.”
Isabel Marant, founded in Paris in 1995, opened on Saturday, July 1, in a space previously occupied by Madewell. The brand operates storefronts around the globe, with an additional LA location on Melrose Place.
“It all started in 1989, when 22-year-old Isabel Marant launched Twen, her first knit and jersey brand,” according to the brand’s website. “In 1995, she held her first show under her own name.”
Marant opened her first boutique in Paris in 1998, according to the website, launching a “carefree new line,” Isabel Marant Étoile, in 2000, followed by men’s clothing in 2017 and eyewear in 2021.
“Located in Palisades Village, in Los Angeles, Isabel Marant’s 200-square-meter space offers a unique design aesthetic—drawing inspiration from the 1970’s French experimental movement,” according to a press release. “The brand also unveils a new brand identity and logo characterized by pleasure, generosity and power.”
Marant’s studio developed the concept, the press release continued, alongside a “group of talented young European designers and artisans,” “mirroring the artful sophistication and pioneering spirit” of the the designer.
“The store showcases a variety of furniture pieces, including an exclusive cash desk designed by Netherlands-based design studio Odd Matter, a foam couch made by Touche-Touche artists, and displays and podiums designed by Rotterdam designer Jonas Lutz,” the press release stated. “The store facade is a single piece designed for the center. In bright yellow color, with large bay windows, it recreates a ‘Yellow House’ in the West Coast.”
Slated to open at Palisades Village in fall is TOTEME, which will be located between diptyque and Sephora Studio. It is taking over a space previously occupied by Carbon38 after it closed earlier this year.
Based in Stockholm, TOTEME was founded in 2014 by Elin Kling and Karl Lindman. It is described as being a “style universe” with a “singular aesthetic.”
“The label explores the appeal of a modern uniform through distinct design cues, meticulous craftsmanship and methodic repetition,” according to a description of the shop. “Inspired by women’s lives and needs, the ambition is to define a dress code and wardrobe that backs their purpose.”
Luxury footwear brand Tamara Mellon closed its Palisades Village location in early 2023—while Jacques Marie Mage—which offers “rare and collectible spectacles”—revealed through signage that it will take over the space.
The brand was founded in Los Angeles in 2014 by Jerome Jacques Marie Mage with a mission to create “rarefied experiences that elevate the senses,” according to its website.
And lastly, Saint Laurent—which will be located at the corner of Sunset and Swarthmore—will take over a space vacated by Amazon Books.
Saint Laurent, founded by a French fashion designer in the 1960s, offers a line of luxury handbags, ready to wear, shoes, leather goods and accessories for men and women.
Amazon announced at the start of March 2022 that it would be closing all of its bookstores and pop-up shops, including Amazon Books in Palisades Village, which closed on March 19, 2022.
As the Palisadian-Post went to print, there were no updates on when Jacques Marie Mage and Saint Laurent would open.
