John Mason Flowers passed away May 5 after a long illness. Born in Los Angeles in 1919, he served in World War II and Korea, and was involved in the Navy Reserve, in business, and in numerous civic organizations, including Rotary. He had been active in the community as president of the Pacific Palisades Civic League (1959-1961), a Boy Scout leader, fundraiser for the library building when it moved from Via de la Paz to Alma Real, and a volunteer with the Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife June, seven children and stepchildren, 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and former wife Yvonne. Flowers treasured reading and libraries from childhood.
