“We will take it to court and see if the truth comes out,” attorney Daniel Brookman told the Palisadian-Post regarding claims that at least two women financially supported Jeffrey Lash, whose decomposing body was found in an SUV on Palisades Drive in July.
Brookman is representing nine people who say they are Lash’s cousins and, according to the attorney, they are first in line for the deceased man’s estate.
The family is seeking to acquire some of the 1,200 guns, $230,000 in cash and other assets that have been recovered from the Highlands condo owned by Lash’s fiancee Catherine Nebron.
In the Aug. 27 issue of the Post, attorneys Harland Braun and Robert Cohen claimed their clients, Nebron and Michelle L., were conned by Lash into financially supporting his excessive spending habits.
Nebron shared her Pacific Palisades condo with Lash for 17 years.
Her attorney Braun claims Lash confined Nebron to a bathroom for three years from 2011-2014 after the lower level of the condo was flooded.
“Allegations given to reporters are one thing, but that is not legal proof,” Brookman said. “It’s quite another thing to raise your hand in a court of law and state it as fact.”
Brookman contacted the Post after exclusive details were revealed on the source of Lash’s income as well as claims that during Nebron’s 17-year relationship with Lash, she felt threatened and was physically confined to certain areas of her condo.
Brookman is confident his clients are first in line for Lash’s assets.
“The family members are heirs to Mr. Lash’s estate and we will prove it accordingly,” he said.
Brookman added that regarding reports about Lash being a ladies man, he isn’t impressed.
“These birthday cards and notes from his lovers…they are just stories as far as we’re concerned, and they are inconsistent,” Brookman told the Post. “Let’s put their claims to the test, let’s go to court.”
Because Lash had no will nor any other arrangements concerning his estate, Brookman said the family is entitled to everything, “especially because he didn’t have children and he was never married.”
Brookman added that he has faith in the court and legal system and that he isn’t worried about claims made by the women in Lash’s life.
“I’m ready for court. Let’s go,” Brookman stated.
