Seven-year-old Henry Kamer and a gang of his friends (many of whom go to Palisades Elementary School) raised more than $1,000 for childhood cancer research at “The Pali-Ade Lemonade Stand” at the Farmer’s Market on Sunday, Sept. 13.
The kids served up cup after cup of refreshing lemonade, with all of the proceeds going to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a national charity dedicated to finding a cure for childhood cancer.
Volunteering at the lemonade stand alongside Henry were Alex and Ryan Freeman; Max Dorban; Pearl and Vivi Abrahams; Jonah Sachs; Sam and Tucker Salser-Meyers; Ella White; Ruby Albert and Ben Kamer.
“It was really magical,” Henry’s dad Lou Kamer told the Palisadian-Post.
“The kids made $1,010 and were busy from opening to close. When we had a lot of volunteers, they started making rounds at the market screaming and selling glasses on the go. All say they want to do it again next year. Henry was at the park today selling lemonade (he made $27) and he has a new, bigger idea for the community. You might say he’s a little obsessed with giving,” Kamer said the day after the lemonade stand.
“The best part was seeing the kids work as a team and exceed their dreams. I don’t think they will ever forget it.”
Additionally, online donations have come close to $5,000.
