Scholarship auditions for the Westside Committee of the Los Angeles Philharmonic will be held for young local musicians on Monday and Tuesday, March 18 and 19, and auditions for a guest spot with the Palisades Symphony will be held on March 19 in Mercer Hall on the Palisades High campus.
Several scholarships will be awarded, ranging from $100 to $500. Students must reside or attend sixth through twelfth grade in Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica, Brentwood, Topanga or Malibu, or the teacher must live in one of the above-mentioned areas. They also must have at least three years’ training on their instrument, the ability to perform a three-to-five-minute piece of classical music and a written recommendation from their teacher.
A separate application is necessary for students who are auditioning for both competitions; however, they will only need to audition once.
Applications are due tomorrow, March 8 for the Philharmonic, and March 11 for the Symphony. Contact: Eva Holberg at (310) 454-8040.
