More than $90,000 was raised at the Marquez Elementary School Auction Party on Saturday, March 21 at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel, according to event co-chair Elsa Wolthausen.
“All proceeds from the auction go to Friends of Marquez which enriches the education of the children at Marquez Charter School,” said FOM Co-President Beverly Jacobs.

More than 230 people attended and bid on items, such as trips to Mexico and Hawaii, professional sports packages, gift baskets, surfboards and even children’s artwork, according to FOM supporter Laura Salinas.
“For being my first auction I was impressed with the dedicated FOM members and very pleased with the ‘principal for a day’ prize,” said Dr. Alberto Hananel, principal at Marquez Elementary. “People were having fun and the venue was beautiful. Thank you to the parents and school supporters for a wonderful evening and experience.”
