Michael E. O’Keefe, 69, passed away on September 16, following a prolonged illness. Born January 15, 1943, Mr. O’Keefe grew up in San Francisco, where he attended local Catholic schools. He graduated from Cal State Long Beach and earned a Juris Doctorate from the UCLA School of Law in 1972. He practiced law in the area of international tax law and business law. He also owned and ran a computer consulting firm. In 1974, Mr. O’Keefe married Laurie Ryder in Yosemite by the Bridalveil Fall. Two years later, they moved to Pacific Palisades where they raised their three children, Meaghan, Tessa and Devin, all of whom attended Corpus Christi School. Mr. O’Keefe was active with coaching his children’s sports teams, with Indian Princesses and Guides, and at Corpus Christi School and Parish. He enjoyed basketball at the park, hiking in Temescal Canyon, surfing at local beaches, skiing, bridge, backgammon, learning about everything and a good joke. He also leaves behind another son, Christopher; his sisters, Judith Miklos and Deb Whipple; a brother, Dennis O’Keefe; and nine nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass was celebrated on September 27 at Corpus Christi Church.
