Saturday’s Pacific Palisades Baseball Association All-Star festivities included the inaugural “Moms vs. Kids” game, won by the mothers, 13-10.
“I came up with the idea because, after all, moms spend a tremendous amount of time in the stands cheering on their kids all season,” said Heather Bell, who has two boys in the PPBA, one on the Pinto Dodgers and the other on the Mustang Dodgers. “I thought it would be fun to get them out there and see what it’s like to actually be in the game. Everyone had a blast!”
The “Mom Squad” included Bell, Jenny Tatum, Claire Haas, Jessica Yi, Lainie Citron, Lori Rautbort, Loren Montgomery, Joanne Pauley and Dawn Houston, who recruited Steve Kaplan and Tom Citron to coach them.
The moms played an All-Star Pinto team made up of Jensen Bell, Sammy Houston, Will Tatum, Harrison Rautbort, Jake McCaffery, Spencer Rodman, Gibson Pauley, Beckett Yi and Lukas Haas and coached by Mike Tatum and Matt Pauley. Mustang players Dylan Tatum, Truman Pauley and Jaxon Bell were the catchers.
