Barbara Maloutas and Hari Bhajan Khalsa are the featured poets at Moonday on Monday, September 13, at 7:30 p.m. at Village Books, 1049 Swarthmore. Open reading sign-ups begin at 7 p.m. Maloutas is the 2008 Sawtooth Poetry Prize winner for ‘The Whole Marie.’ She is the author of a book and chapbooks, and her work has appeared in a number of journals, anthologies and online. Maloutas also makes and exhibits artist books, and collaborates with The Lab Works at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. Khalsa received her B.A. in creative writing from Vermont College in 2005, after a hiatus from school for 30 years. She has been a fellow at the Hambidge Center for the Creative Arts and Sciences and associate artist at the Atlantic Center for the Arts. Her poems have appeared in over 30 publications, and her poem ‘I Would Tell You’ was selected for The Best of the Web 2009. She splits her time between Los Angeles and the little mountain town of Sisters, Oregon.
