On Sunday at about 10 a.m., a possible motorcycle thief, riding west on Sunset Boulevard, failed to negotiate the bend at Las Lomas Avenue east of Bienveneda and struck a car that was traveling in the opposite direction.
“The motorcycle went over the metal guardrail and was found resting, and quite busted-up, on the sidewalk on the south side of Sunset,” Richard G. Cohen, a nearby neighbor, told the Palisadian-Post.
The motorcycle rider “amazingly got up and fled west, cutting through the backyard of the apartment building at the corner of Bienveneda, and went south,” said Cohen, who was told by police that the motorcycle had been reported stolen.
Witnesses said the man “dumped his helmet and backpack in the trash cans of the apartment building” before fleeing the area. An LAPD helicopter searched Las Pulgas canyon and the surrounding area but no arrests were reported.
